“The past is now the latest craze” -and will be again. Vintage Market Days and Olde World Door
Olde World Door is excited to be participating in their first Vintage Market Days in Bentonville, Arkansas. Like the Romantics, the yearning for the warmth and simplicity of an idealized past, of the fields, of the tools, of our tribes, our farmers and craftspeople and folk artists, that yearning continues to surface in our culture again and again. As we forge ahead into the fast paced techno future, we seek out these nostalgic possessions to help us affectionately remember the past and keep it safe. Here at OWD though, we don’t have the Thomas Kinkade saccharine sweet chachskis and curios, no precious porcelain dolls or doilies. We have always loved the architectural salvage, it’s grit, it’s history, it’s breadth of materials. As progress is made and buildings and houses are torn down, luckily there are many people like us that believe we should keep the coolest parts, and not just keep them, reintegrate them, for we are nothing without our past. These bricks built buildings in St. Louis, now it can be apart of your home and your history, this stained glass came from the first church in Tontitown, your grandmother went there, now you have a part of the glass in your home, this door is made out of heart-pine wood you will never see again, you knew it was beautiful, and now you understand it is precious, this simple door knob was lovingly used on the farmhouse for over 200 years, still works fine in your new home. Because of their stories and because of their materials, these objects have brought us such pleasure and joy over the years we’ve been hunting and collecting and making things. We hope to spread some of that around to you. It’s a part of our collective identity, how we stay connected with our past, integrating objects, the old with the new. So come on out and say hello. Pick, collect, find, reminisce, treasure hunt from our vintage and antique items. We have Cool Old Stuff. Doors, stained glass, old boxes, iron, lighting, parts for projects and lots more. Come see us!
